My turn

posted by Michèle Sharik
This is my fourth trip to Japan with Sonos. Each year, I've seen one or more Sonosians get sick, but I've always managed to avoid it.

It seems that this year is my turn. :-(

I'm not full-fledged sick, but I have a sore throat & a tooth-and-ear-ache (ie. I think my toothache is making my ear hurt, or vice versa.). I've been downing the "Airborne" stuff like it was candy and drinking loads of water. I'm almost out of "Airborne" which is a Bad Thing because you can't get it here. In fact, Taiko specifically requested that I bring her some from the US!

I visited the local conbini - convenience store - and bought some vitamin C throat lozenges as well as some Vicks Medicated Drops as well as some ibuprofen, so I'm hoping those will help me.

Meanwhile, I stayed in this morning to get some rest instead of site-seeing. I took a short nap after breakfast and feel a little better, but I definitely need to take it easy today. Probably tomorrow, too.

I hate playing concerts when I'm sick. It's so much harder to put out enough energy. Not impossible, just more difficult. I'm a fairly high-energy player & like to really convey my joy of playing bells to the audience. It's like in that Bob Seeger song "Turn the Page" when he says, "Out there in the spotlight you're a million miles away / every ounce of energy you try to give away."

That's hard to do when I don't have much energy to begin with.

Now you REALLY have to give it your all. Good luck with that!

Thanks, Jan. I'm doing ok now, but am feeling a bit over-medicined.
